Mikdad, Lavrov discuss latest developments in Syria, humanitarian file
Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, the latest developments in Syria and the world as well as means of deepening cooperation between the two countries, the latest developments of Astana process and the next round of meetings of the Committee of discussing the Constitution
The two sides exchanged points of view about the implementation of UN resolutions related to the humanitarian file in Syria and the importance of expanding humanitarian activities to include “early recovery projects” and rehabilitation of infrastructure destroyed by terrorism and its supporters in line with Resolution No. 2585
Minister Mikdad condemned the Western escalation towards the Russian Federation, considering that these hostile policies and campaigns pose threat to peace and stability in the region and the world
For his part, Minister Lavrov affirmed Russia’s principled stances in the face of those policies and its firm support for the unconditional respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity
The two ministers also discussed arrangements of the upcoming visit of Minister Mikdad to Moscow and agreed to continue coordination and cooperation regarding all files of common interest
