Syria, Russia cooperate on combating terrorism, Russian Ambassador says
Russian Ambassador in Damascus, Alexander Efimov, said that Syria and Russia coordinate and cooperate to complete the elimination of terrorism in Syria
“dialogue based on mutual trust at the highest levels between Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin is very important, and this was affirmed by their summit meeting in the Kremlin last September,” Efimov said in an interview with Russian TASS news agency on Thursday
Efimov added that it is early to speak about the full elimination of terrorism in Syria as the presence of terrorists is not limited to Idleb region and its surroundings, thus Daesh still poses threat to some areas of the Badia, despite the destruction of its war capability by joint efforts between the Syrian and Russian armies
He stressed that the presence of foreign forces in Syrian al-Jazeera region complicates the solution of problems there, impedes the return of the Syrian state to it, and deprives the Syrian people from accessing to its necessary natural resources, particularly oil
