Syrian Arab Republic delegation holds meeting with UN delegation in Nur-Sultan
The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Ayman Sousan, held a meeting in Nur-Sultan on Tuesday with the delegation of the United Nations that enjoys observer status in the Astana process, headed by UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Khawla Matar, within the framework of the 17th Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format
Talks during the meeting tackled the situation in Syria, as Dr. Sousan stressed that the briefings of the UN Special Envoy for Syria should be objective and impartial and should describe the facts as they are in order to preserve the credibility of the United Nations
He pointed out at the same time that economic terrorism, illegitimate coercive measures and the theft of Syrians’ wealth by the US and Turkish occupations are the reason for the suffering of the Syrians
Sousan referred to Syria’s principled stance on the issue of delivery of humanitarian assistance across border to Syria, expressing Syria’s readiness to continue making all efforts to end the suffering of the missing and kidnapped by terrorist organizations
He pointed out that the Turkish regime puts obstacles in the way of ending this tragedy
In turn, Matar affirmed her great appreciation for the efforts made by the Syrian state and its cooperation with international organizations to put an end to the suffering of the abductees
Earlier on the day, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Sousan, held a meeting with the Russian delegation headed by Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev within the framework of 17th Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format
The 17th Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format started activities on Tuesday morning in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, and will last for two days
The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, the delegations of the three guarantor states and other delegations are participating in the meeting
