Ambassador Ala: cooperation with UN Human Rights’ mechanisms should be based on neutrality and non-politicization
Syria’s representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Hussam al-Din Ala, said that cooperation with UN Human Rights’ mechanisms should be based on the principle of neutrality and non-politicization
“Syria was one of the active founding countries in the Human Rights’ Council to stop politicizing issues of protecting and boosting human rights and double standard policies,” Ala said in a statement on Monday before the Human Right’s Council
Ala added that the work of “International Commission of Inquiry on Syria” for more than 10 years has proven correctness of Syria’s stance towards this commission whether in terms of committing grave mistakes by the Commission, or its failure in responding to the minimum limit of objectivity
“Syria has affirmed its commitment to cooperation and partnership with the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights according to his capacity specified in decision 48/41, particularly regarding providing fair and objective information about the social, economic and political situations, among them, Syria,” Ala said
He concluded that Syria reaffirms that cooperation with UN Human Rights’ mechanisms should be based on the principle of neutrality and non-politicization and the rules of decision 2/5/ in addition to considering the national priorities
