Milley acknowledges his country’s defeat in Afghanistan

US Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, has acknowledged his country’s defeat in Afghanistan, a month after the end of the US withdrawal from that country and the state of confusion and chaos that accompanied it

“It is clear to all of us that the war in Afghanistan did not end on the terms we wanted with the Taliban in power in Kabul.” Mark said during a hearing in the US House of Representatives yesterday

He added, “It was a losing war, and the final situation is completely different from what we wanted, and this strategic failure was the result of a series of strategic decisions dating back to a long time ago”

The collapse of the Afghani army and government precipitated the withdrawal of the US army and the Afghani civilians who cooperated with it, while the developments of events in Afghanistan accelerated with the Taliban movement entering the capital, Kabul, and taking control of most government institutions amidst chaos in the country

These developments came after US President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from this country
